Two suspected New People’s Army (NPA) members were reportedly killed in a clash with government soldiers at Barangay Bala, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
The Commander of the Philippine Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Rhojun Rosales, said his men were conducting pursuit operations when they clashed with NPA rebels around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The bodies of the two suspected rebels had been retrieved along with two M16 rifles, said Lt.Col. Rosales.
They remain unidentified.
Authorities estimate the ages of the slain suspected rebels to be around 28-35 years old.
“The troops are conducting pursuit operations against the fleeing rebels belonging to the Guerilla Front 72 of the Far South Mindanao Region,” Lt.Col. Rosales said.
