The second trailer of Meteor Garden 2018 was released; revealing the release date of the remake series.
On Facebook, Meteor Garden – Chinese Drama uploaded the teaser.
“METEOR GARDEN 2ND TRAILER. Get ready for Meteor Garden 2018 fever! Yay! Coming this July 9 via Hunan TV. Hahaha! Enjoy!” read the caption of the video.
The trailer showed the real life sister of Barbie Hsu, the female protagonist of the original series. Dee Hsu will play as the older sister of the lead male actor in the new version.
It also included the mother of Barbie’s character in the original series.
Meteor Garden is based on the Japanese manga series, Boys Over Flowers which tells the story of Shan Cai; a teenage girl from a poor family who goes to a school for rich people at her parents’ insistence. There, she met four handsome but arrogant male students collectively known as F4. Dao Ming Si, F4’s leader, eventually fell in love with her.
It began airing in 2001 and was introduced in the Philippines by ABS-CBN in 2003. It was also re-aired in 2014.
In 2017, the Kapamilya network announced that it has earned the rights to air the reboot.
“ABS-CBN has earned the rights for the remake of ‘Meteor Garden’, the Taiwanese drama that took Asia by storm during the 2000s. It enjoyed huge popularity at home and across Asia, spawning remakes in Japan and South Korea. It was first aired in the Philippines on ABS-CBN in 2003,” it noted.
