Last Saturday, emotions ran high as the country’s biggest singing contest “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” named Janine Berdin as Season 2 grand champion. The 16-year-old singer shared that there are a few things she couldn’t wait to do now that the competition is over.
She said, “Kakain po ako ng ice cream. Dalawang buwan na po akong hindi nakakakain ng ice cream. At siyempre po pupunta ako ng church.” [I will eat ice cream because I haven’t eaten it for two months. Of course, go to church.]
Dubbed as the “Cadets My Girl ng Cebu,” the new singing champ’s heart goes out to her family, especially to her grandmother. When asked how she will spend her P2-million cash prize, Berdin told ABS-CBN, “Gagamitin ko po ang pera para matulungan po ang lola ko na recently po na-stroke po siya. Kailangan po niya -dialysis.” [I will use the money to help my grandmother because she recently had a stroke. She also needs dialysis.]
Aside from the whooping P2-million cash, Berdin also won a vacation package, a brand new house and lot, a livelihood package, a musical gadgets package, television sets, a trophy created by renowned Filipino visual artist Toym Imao and a coveted recording and talent management contract.
