• A candidate who lost from the recent elections closed the 26 square meters lot in front of the barangay hall in San Roque, Iligan City
  • He somehow gave a small passageway for people on foot, but vehicles can no longer access the blocked road
  • The Punong Barangay confirmed he lost the candidate’s ownership of the land and already sought help from city officials regarding the problem

Rosendo Souviron closed the 26 square meters lot in front of the barangay hall in San Roque, Iligan City.

He gave a small passageway for people on foot, but vehicles can no longer access the blocked road.

“Hindi kasi sila ibinoto noong eleksyon. Nababahala kami kapag nagkasunog, di makakadaan ang mga firetruck,” said a resident in an article by ABS CBN News.

[It’s because they lost in the elections. We are worried because firetrucks cannot access the road in case of fire.]

According to Souviron, he purchased the lot several years ago and he allowed the public to use it, but he needs the lot now.

Punong Barangay Humberto Ermac confirmed Souviron’s ownership of the land; however, 2 previous owners of the lot donated about 3 meters.

Ermac already sought help from city officials regarding the problem.

Souviron has several conditions so he would allow the land again to be used by the public.

Among his conditions are the audit of the barangay’s funds, fixing of the drainage, and traffic lights.

He also said that he does not desire to run again for any position in the coming years.

“Ang dami kasing problema ng San Roque na napabayaan lang,” he said. [San Roque has had a lot of problems that were neglected.]
