Several teachers who were members of the electoral board in Barangay Mabini, Santiago City, Isabela were halted after they allegedly tried to bring a ballot box outside the voting premises.

A group of poll watchers stopped the teachers because according to them, the boxes should be brought altogether; not one by one.

The teachers said they already canvassed the box and they were about to bring it to the office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec.) But the poll watchers didn’t let them go out of the school.

According to Atty. Jenny May Vallejo, election officer, the ballot box can be brought out because it is already canvassed.

She added that the teachers have to go to Manila, that’s why they intended to turn over the ballot box ahead.

The teachers were forced to stay at the voting precinct and had to wait for the counting of votes in other precincts to end.

Mabini is one of the barangays with the highest number of voters in the city.
