- Senator Kiko Pangilinan bared a few names in their list of possible senatorial line-up
- Among those are Agot Isidro, Rep. Gary Alejano, Rep. Barry Gutierrez and may even include ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno
- They called their coalition as “The Resistance”
Senator Francis Pangilinan admitted that the Liberal Party is urging actress Agot Isidro to run in the 2019 mid-term elections under its senatorial slate.
Isidro, a known critic of the Duterte administration, has been a target of criticisms from Duterte supporters. Pangilinan said that he suggested the idea when he had a talk with Isidro about issues such as “EJKs” and the Chinese’s militarization on disputed territories.
Pangilinan told ABS-CBN, “Of course, she was hesitant. But then we said, precisely, that we need more women to step up and so she said, ‘Okay, you can consider it but let me think about it also’. We’re still convincing her.”
Aside from Isidro, Pangilinan revealed they are looking at new names in their senatorial line-up. The possible list includes, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, former Akbayan party-list Rep. Barry Gutierrez, LP Vice President for External Affairs Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada and De La Salle University College of Law Dean Jose Manuel Diokno.
They are also not denying the possibility of including the ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, in what they call as “The Resistance” coalition.
