• An honest cabbie returned the money left by an OFW in his taxi
  • The OFW greatly appreciated the taxi driver’s honesty
  • MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal commended the driver for his honesty

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) greatly appreciated the honesty of a taxi driver who returned the money he accidentally left in the taxicab.

As per GMA News, Virgilio Legaspi arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA-1) from Saudi Arabia and took a taxicab to a bus terminal in Sampaloc, Manila. When he realized that his money was missing, he went back to the airport to look for the taxi driver.

Meanwhile, the taxi driver, Gilbert Punzalan, noticed a white envelop beside his taxicab’s hand break. It contained $3,000. He notified his employer about his find before going back to NAIA-1 to turn over the cash to airport authorities in case the owner returns to look for his missing money.

“Ako po ay nagpapasalamat kay Bro. [Punzalan]. Honest siya talaga kaya bilib po ako talaga sa kanya,” Legaspi said when he got his money back.

[I’m grateful to Bro. He’s really honest and I am really impressed]

Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Ed Monreal was delighted over Punzalan’s honesty.

“Ang mga maliliit na kabayanihang tulad ng kanyang ginawa ay malaking tulong sa ating efforts na mapaganda ang imahe ng NAIA sa mundo,” Monreal said.

[The little heroisms just like what he (Punzalan) did was a big boost to our efforts to improve NAIA’s image]
