Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao considers Top Rank Inc. chief executive Bob Arum as his “former promoter” but made it clear that he is still friends with him.

“Wala na. I’m free to promote my own fight,” Pacquiao said in an interview with ABS-CBN News on Monday night’s Elorde Awards for excellence in boxing, March 26.

Eldibrando Viernesto, Pacquiao’s lawyer was previously quoted as saying that Manny is no longer under contract with Top Rank. According also to Viernesto, Pacquiao’s last fight under Top Rank was the “Battle of Brisbane” against Jeff Horn in July 2017 in Australia.

“I reviewed the contract and I found out that Bob Arum has no more say even in the rematch, should there be any, between Manny Pacquiao and Australian boxer Jeff Horn,” Viernesto said in an article posted on Philboxing.com .

Even though Pacquiao is no longer under Top Rank, this doesn’t mean that he has turned his back on its CEO, Bob Arum. Pacquiao explained that he owes a debt of gratitude to Arum who have helped him to become one of the most popular and highest-paid fighters in the world.

“I’m not angry with Bob, I’m thankful to Bob for everything.’ Yung tulong, suporta galing sa kanya. Marunong akong tumanaw ng utang na loob.” Pacquiao said.

[The help, support, from him. I know how to value a debt of gratitude.]

He also pleaded to the public to stop writing scandals or stories against him and Arum. Robert ‘Bob’ Arum is an American lawyer, boxing promoter and businessman. He is the founder and CEO of Top Rank; a professional boxing promotion company based in Las Vegas .

He also worked for the US Attorney’s Office for the southern district of New York in the tax division during his legal career before moving into boxing promotion.
