MANILA, Philippines – Russian president Vladimir Putin’s official car has reportedly figured in a horrific crash in the capital Moscow; leaving at least one person dead.
The fatality is said to be Putin’s favorite chauffeur who has worked for him on official duties for more than 40 years.
The violent crash was captured on a security camera along the Kutuzovsky Avenue. It showed a speeding black car ploughing through the center island before colliding with another car running on the opposite side.
Putin’s car was the black BMW that got struck by a black Mercedes that crossed over to the opposite lane.
His driver was reportedly killed instantly while the Mercedes driver was rushed to a hospital and is said to be in critical condition.
Paramedics immediately responded to the scene but the crash has caused a massive traffic, local media said.
Reports did not say when exactly the accident happened but confirmed the Russian leader was not in the car during the deadly collision.
Police are now investigating the incident but declined to give any details on the identity of the man killed and the other driver in the Mercedes Benz car.
