Thousands of beautiful tributes poured in after news of former Senator and presidential aspirant Miriam Defensor Santiago’s death was announced on Thursday morning, September 29. But while most of the social media posts circulating after Miriam’s death were condolences, her famous hugot and pick-up lines, and various tributes, there were also those who did not miss the opportunity to make political commentaries.

Among these was veteran journalist Raissa Robles who tweeted, “If MDS had become President and her VP had won, Bongbong Marcos would now be President. Think about it.

Of course, she’s actually correct in some way because Miriam did run for president with Bongbong as her running mate. Bongbong almost won the position (his camp argues they were cheated on) but Miriam only received more than 1 million votes and was nowhere near winning the presidency in the final count yet as presidential candidate, she also had the chance to win.

But even if what Raissa tweeted could have been true, many netizens believe that she should have kept her opinion to herself or even just reserve it to some latter date since it was quite insensitive for her to post it just hours after Miriam died!
