MANILA, Philippines – If it’s for finding out the truth.
Senator Manny Pacquiao indicated he was open to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre III’s proposal to present the videos showing Sen. Leila de Lima’s alleged trysts with her former driver and purported lover Ronnie Palisoc Dayan if only to prove her connections to the illegal drug trade at the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP).
“Depende, kung kinakailangan, kung saan papunta ‘yung investigation. Marami rin kasing complaint [It depends if it’s needed and on the course of the investigation. We have been receiving several complaints],” the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted him as saying.
Pacquiao stressed that while he respects De Lima, his obligation is to find out the truth.
“Basta kung saan ‘yung tama, doon ako. Walang puwedeng pumigil sa akin. Sabi ko sa kanya, ang respeto ko sa kanya andiyan pa rin [I am siding with the truth. No one can stop me. I told her that my respect for her remains],” he said.
“Basta sa atin e nirerespeto natin ang isa’t isa kahit ganun. Ang sa akin ay pino-point ko lang kung ano ang tama [I respect my colleagues despite the issues. But I want the truth to come out],” he added.
However, Pacquiao admitted that while he has seen some pictures from the purported videos, he cannot confirm if they really contain De Lima.
“May mga picture na pinakita pero hindi natin masabi na confirm o ano, s’ya yun o hindi [I have seen pictures, but I cannot confirm if it’s her or not],” he said.
