An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Dubai died from complications after allegedly getting a breast augmentation procedure from an unlicensed doctor.

GMA News previously reported that the OFW, identified only through initials “L.M.”, came from the town of Mexico in Pampanga and worked as a beautician in the oil-rich city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The victim received injections for the breast enlargement procedure from unlicensed sources. Authorities discovered that the one who gave the injection was a fellow Filipino.

Additional information about the victim or the crime has not been made public, pending the investigation. However, the hunt for the suspect is currently underway.

“The official cause of death was not yet revealed but the said OFW, who was in his mid-20s, was allegedly given an injection for chest augmentation. We have issued the advisory to give our fellow OFW fair warning as there have been reports of proliferation of this illegal medical services in the northern emirates,” Philippine consul Ferdinand Flores explained to Kwentong OFW.

Due to the incident, the Philippine Consulate in Dubai has issued a warning to OFWs against such illegal medical services.

“The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates reminds all Filipinos not to transact with persons who are unlicensed to provide medical services especially cosmetic procedures which may result to injury, disability or death,” the advisory read.

There’s an estimate of over 900,000 Filipinos currently residing in the UAE.
