• Meatball a.k.a. Meaty was rescued from a shelter by owner Lisa Reilly
  • After that, his popularity rose on Instagram where photos of him smiling garnered thousands of likes
  • Meaty, now, can’t stop bringing joy to Reilly’s home

There are only three things a dog needs in this world: love, care and attention. And it seems like this dog has gotten them all as he can’t stop flashing a smile in his photos on Instagram.

Meet Meatball (or Meaty for short). Before his gleeful selfies online, his life was a little gloomy having had to stay in a shelter.

His current owner Lisa Reilly just saw him in a photo posted by the shelter Fresno Bully Rescue. Reilly remembered her departed pet dog, Kitty, that’s why she visited the shelter and adopted Meaty.

“Fresno Bully Rescue did a great job nursing Meaty from the first time I saw him until I was able to bring him home,” Reilly said in a feature by The Dodo.

Ever since, Meaty was all smiles – proven by the photos uploaded on Reilly’s Instagram account. His photos garnered thousands of likes. Talk about a famous and adorable dog.

So why the name Meatball?

Rilley explained: “It’s hard to really tell just how short he is in person, but he’s so low to the ground and wide like a Mack Truck. And he would just barrel into you like a bowling ball of dog fat when we first got him. Thus, he became known as ‘The Meatball,’ Meaty for short.”

This little ball of fat surely makes Rilley’s home brighter, together with his buddies – pit bulls Punky and Ricardo Tubbs and dachshunds Bitty and Dappe.

“He’s truly a mama’s boy, though, and just wants to be next to me all the time,” Reilly says. “It’s great to have though, as you really can’t have a bad day when he’s around. I’d dare anyone not to smile being near him.”
