- President Rodrigo Duterte has a new ‘drug list’ of 1,000 government officials
- The President said he will make the list public in a matter of days
- The new list includes police officers and government officials
MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte has a new list that supposedly contains the names of at least 1,000 government officials who are allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
The revelation was made by the President during his speech before members of the Scout Rangers in Camp Tecson in San Miguel Bulacan on Thursday, September 15.
Duterte said the fresh list of narco-politicians has been finalized and validated a few days ago before he goes public with it.
“The final report is there. I am about to make it public. Nakipag-usap ako sa mga [I spoke with] congressmen, ‘What will I do with this?’ There are 1,000 mayors, congressmen, judges, barangay captains, governors,” Duterte said.
The President added the list came from ‘raw source’ before being passed to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) for evaluation and verification.
The Chief Executive did not immediately name the officials in the latest ‘drug list’ but frustration is clear in his announcement.
“Hindi ko na kaya ito (I can’t take this anymore),” he said.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said on Wednesday the list was the subject of the recent Cabinet meeting with the President. Among the names he saw, Aguirre said, are of police officers and politicians.
Last month, Duterte exposed the names of about 150 ‘narco-officials’ which included politicians, cops and judges.
After Duterte’s public revelation, several government officials have come forward to either clear their names or deny the allegations.
Among them are Albuerra, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa, whose lawyer was killed in an ambush; and the Odictas of Iloilo who were shot dead by an unidentified assailant after meeting with Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno.
