- When asked about how he would deal with questions specifically coming from US Pres. Obama on human rights and extra-judicial killings, Pres. Duterte says he doesn’t give a shit about anybody observing his behavior
- Any question pertaining to that issue, he said, would be a disrespect to him and the Filipino people
- Philippines have long ceased to be a colony of the United States, he added
“We will continue, and I will continue and I don’t give a s*** about anybody observing my behavior.”
This was stated by President Rodrigo Duterte during the pre-departure press briefing when he was asked about how he would deal with questions specifically coming from US President Barrack Obama which pertain to human rights and extra-judicial killings during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Vientiane, Laos.
“You must be respectful. You just don’t throw question and statements. [expletive], mumurahin kita sa forum na yan [I’ll curse you in that forum],” he was quoted saying.
In stressing his piece, Duterte noted that the Philippines is not a vasal state and the Philippines have long ceased to be a colony of the United States. Thus, he added, he will not respond to anybody but to the people of the Republic of the Philippines.
Citing the 600,000 Moro people killed during the American colonizers’ pacification campaign at the turn of the century, the President said America “has one too many to answer for the misdeeds of this country.”
As such, he said the Philippines have not heard any apology until now.
The President further said that there is no need for him to kneel down before anybody else, except for the Filipinos in Quiapo walking in misery and in extreme hunger and poverty.
He then stressed that the campaign against drugs would continue “until the last pusher is out of the streets, until the last manufacturer is killed.”
