Earthquakes could happen anytime, anywhere for various reasons; although there are areas that are more prone to experiencing tremors than others – but while earthquakes have tectonic or volcanic origins, critics believe the recent earthquake in Mati, Davao Oriental in southern Philippines should be blamed on Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and his unholy behavior.

It seems that Duterte’s critics are rejoicing over the earthquake, saying that this karma to the people of Davao, his hometown. What many of the critics failed to realize is that Mati, Davao Oriental is a separate entity from Davao City, Duterte’s actual hometown. Just because these areas both have ‘Davao’ in their names does not mean they belong to the same place!

Moreover, earthquakes happen everywhere – who are you going to blame for the tremors in the other areas? Perhaps, Sen. Manny Pacquiao is to be blamed for the intensity 4 quakes in General Santos City and in Alabel, Glan & Malapatan, Sarangani? But Polomolok, South Cotabato also experienced an intensity 4 quake while Cagayan De Oro City and Tupi, South Cotabato had intensity 3 quakes.

Could it be that their leaders were also sinners? But there are many other places whose leaders have far graver sins that Pres. Duterte, right? Does that mean these places will also get punished with earthquakes, too?
