MANILA, Philippines – He even offered them his own residence the ‘White House’ as their safe house.
During the second day of the Senate hearing on the spate of drug-related killings, PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa assured witnesses related to slain drug suspects of their safety as he ordered the policemen they tagged as the killers disarmed and restricted to Camp Crame.
Andito kami. We’re here to protect you.
[We have disarmed them. Mary Rose and the others don’t have to be afraid. You are not under threat anymore because we have removed those police. You can go home. You can remove your cover, please. We are here. We are here to protect you. Don’t be worried, those police, they have been confined.]
Aquino, who admitted that her father was a drug dealer, earlier said police in Antipolo involved in the drug trade themselves killed him and her mother. They are currently under investigation in Camp Crame after Dela Rosa said he personally went to the Rizal Provincial Police Station to find and disarm them.
The PNP chief also said erring policemen involved in drugs, aside from being removed from anti-drug operations, will face his wrath for breaking their vow to uphold the law.
Gigil na gigil po ako, your honor [I won’t say anymore because it’s bad, your honor, but you know what I mean. I am very frustrated, your honor],” the Philippine Star quoted him as telling senators on what he planned to do with these scalawags.
