A young man from Gabon is heaping praises on the internet after his haunting version of Celine Dion’s “Power of Love” went viral on social media.
The 17-year-old Gabonese, known only by his first name Samuel, has even caught the attention of the Canadian singer who shared the copy of the teen’s jaw-dropping performance online.
Samuel, reportedly an aspiring artist, did not only manage to convince millions of viewers around the world with his soulful rendition of the classic ballad, but also for sounding closely like Dion.
His video, which was first shared on the Facebook page Barack Nyare Mba, has racked up more than 2.6-million views since its posting.
In her message to Samuel, Dion said she is looking forward to meeting the young man.
“Samuel, your talent is as big as your voice. I hope we have the chance to meet one day,” the diva wrote on her Facebook page.
“May all your dreams come true. Keep singing like you do. When music comes from the heart, it knows no borders!” she added.
After learning that Dion herself send her a message, Samuel said he was “overwhelmed” by her attention.
In the viral video, the teenager can be seen sitting on the staircase of the building where he lived while hitting the high notes of the popular love song originally sung by Jennifer Rush.
Samuel admitted he has no Facebook account nor a mobile phone, and thus, was completely unaware that the video taken by his brother went viral and reached Dion.
His unexpected shot to fame apparently paid off since producers from TV singing contests in France and Ivory Coast have now approached for possible projects.
