Who wouldn’t cry with joy over your child’s magnificent achievement?

The son of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who won a gold medal for getting a perfect score in the recently concluded Math world contest held in Hong Kong truly gave his hardworking father a great reason to cry happy tears.

ABS-CBN News mentioned in an article that 12-year-old Raphael Dylan Dalida was among the Filipino students who bagged medals in the 19th Po Leung Kuk Primary Mathematics World Contest (PMWC) held from July 12 to 16 in Hong Kong.

The student from St. Mary’s Academy in Pasay City has made his OFW father who’s working in Croatia very proud by getting a perfect score in the contest.

“I cried and I was really happy. It was indescribable,” Dalida said; describing the exact moment his son was awarded the gold medal.

An article by GMA News said that Dalida was not expecting to get a perfect score in the contest, as the student said he felt the questions in the competition were really hard.

For the individual round, the competing students were asked to solve 15 questions in 90 minutes; thus averaging six minutes per question.

“I dedicate this to God, my parents, MTG, my school, and everyone who supported me,” said Dalida; mentioning Mathematics Trainers Guild (MTG) which has been training him since 2014.

Filbert Ephraim Wu of MGC New Life Christian Academy in Taguig won the silver medal, while the bronze medalists are Evgeny Cruz of Palanan Elementary School in Makati, Enzo Raphael Chan of Bayanihan Institute in Tarlac, Chiara Bernadette Tan-Gatue of St Jude Catholic School in Manila, Kristen Steffi Teh of Grace Christian College in Quezon City, and Cassidy Kyler Tan of Davao Christian High School in Davao City.
