- Taylor Swift tops Forbes’ list of 100 highest earning celebrity
- For 2015, Swift earned a total of $170 million
- This was largely due to her successful 1989 concert tour
A blooming lovelife and tons of cash, Forbes has enough reasons to enjoy being “20-something”.
Forbes has listed pop icon Taylor Swift as the top celebrity earner for 2016 with an income of $170 million in the past year.
According to a Forbes article, Swift’s huge paycheck came from her successful 1989 World Tour, which out earned rock band Rolling Stones’ North American tour. The “Bad Blood” singer garnered a gross income of $200 million from the tour.
Also, thanks to her endorsements with Diet Coke, Keds and Apple, Swift made it to the top even though it was not as much as Floyd Mayweather’s $300 million last year. Mayweather was the top earner in 2015 after his historic fight with Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
Swift, meanwhile, beat Katy Perry’s $135 million in 2015. Perry was the highest earner among the musicians last year.
Other celebrities who made it to the upper bracket of the list were One Direction and author James Patterson. The famous boy band ranked second with $110 million while Patterson scored the third place with $95 million.
Swift also beat her former boyfriend and DJ Calvin Harris who earned $63 million. Harris was not a loser, however, because he made it to the 23rd spot. Forbes said that if the two did not split, they could have beaten Beyonce and Jay-Z as the top-earning celebrity couple.
Jennifer Lawrence of the hit film “The Hunger Games” was the biggest earning actress with $52 million. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was the top earning actor with $65 million of earnings from the last installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise and “San Andreas”.
“The world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities pulled in $5.1 billion pretax over the past 12 months, more than the GDP of Belize, Gambia and Bhutan combined,” Forbes said.
