MANILA, Philippines – That’s just low.
In her interview with Jessica Soho on GMA News, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo shared how she received a ‘vicious’ online message telling her she should’ve died instead of her husband Jesse.
The message was sent after she overtook Sen. Bongbong Marcos in the hotly-contested vice presidential race.
According to Robredo, she was tempted to respond to the basher but refrained from doing so because she did not want to lose her focus.
“Ako na-tempt na ako na sagutin, ‘Hindi mo lang alam na nung bumagsak yung eroplano ng asawa ko, every day, every night, wini-wish ko na sana ako na lang yung nasa eroplanong ‘yun,” she said.
[I was tempted to respond, ‘You don’t know that when my husband’s airplane crashed, every day, every night, I wished it was me who was in that plane.’]
“Pero siyempre pipigilan mo yung sarili mo. Kasi bakit mo naman papatulan? Pero napaka vicious ng ibang tao. Pero ite-train mo lang yung sarili mo. Ano yung bigger picture? Hahayaan mo bang parang ma-drag down ka nung mga hindi mabubuti?” she continued.
[But of course you’d stop yourself from responding, because why would you waste your time? People can be very vicious, but you have to train yourself. What is the bigger picture? Would you let yourself be be dragged down by those who are ill-willed?]
Robredo currently maintains a 200,000-vote lead over Marcos after she overtook him in the early Tuesday morning canvassing, May 11.
